A brand new year & a brand new roof!

*
So here we are in a brand new year!  2010 was certainly an eventful year both happy & sad, & I hope that 2011 can bring us more joy without any sadness.  Lets watch this space!!

Well we have been busy over the last couple of months.  As you know we have been saving up to build a brick school for the children of Ndeeba Primary.  This is our biggest fundraising effort & we really hope that we can achieve our target by the end of this year.  In the meantime we have been trying to repair the existing wooden school to make it as waterproof, flood proof & as safe as possible for the year ahead. The rains have certainly increased over the last couple of years & we have noticed much more problems with flooding in the slums.
This is not only damaging to a wooden building, but also a breeding ground for disease & on many occasions makes the school completely unusable.  Thanks to our our friends at the Adsum Foundation in Ireland, they gifted to us some money to repair the roof, concrete the dirt floors & put up guttering.  This work has been taking place over the school Christmas holidays & we are so grateful to Gavin & everyone at the Adsum Foundation for transforming the safety, cleanliness & learning conditions for all the children.  We look forward to receiving our friends in a visit to the school later this year!  This gift does not only help the children but also helps local builders earn an income for their work so the whole community benefits.

Wow, what a transformation!, Thank you so much!
