A tribute.....

Well firstly, before I talk about the happy stuff I just want to reflect on one distinct change that has happened within our little school community recently and that is the passing of one of our teachers Shakira. Shakira had been part of the school since before I became involved and she was such a lovely lady. She sadly passed away from complications following childbirth.

Uganda Trip January 2013

Well I have just last week returned from Uganda and what an amazing trip it was. There have been occasions when I have been there and nothing seems to go your way and you see time running out. So you have to leave with unfinished business and that is tough.

The reality is that working in Uganda or any developing country is challenging, by the pure nature of the fact that it is a developing country means that infrastructure is not always in place, processes not in place and procedures not followed. But this trip just 'rocked'! I have come away feeling so invigorated with all that was achieved and with such a clear direction on where we are heading!

So much so that I am not going to post this in one article......I am gonna break it down into bite size pieces!

More to follow!!

2013.....

So what lies ahead this year??

Well.....a new primary school is very much on the cards!! We are just working with the architect, the land board, and our lawyer to work out the final details before the build can commence!

As with most things in Uganda, this is not as straight forward as it would sound, so right now I cannot say exactly WHEN the build will start.....but as soon as I know, I will be shouting it from the rooftops!!

Happy New Year to you all and all the very best for 2013 xxx

Happy New Year!

So here we are.....another year has passed and now we can look ahead at all the exciting things that we can be involved in here at the ACDT!

But before we look ahead, I just want to tell you about a small fundraising appeal I ran in December......as many of you know I am from the Isle of Wight and a lot of the support, sponsorship and support for our fundraising events comes from islanders. So I felt that it was important to give something back to the island as a thank you for the continued support I receive for our work in Uganda.

Too long!!

Well its been too long since I have posted on this blog! Not because things haven't been happening but because too many things HAVE been happening and blogging just fell by the wayside!

Well no more!  I make a pledge now to get back on the blogging wagon and keep you all informed of what is happening!

The biggest thing to happen since I last posted is...
