Jump for Life 2011

As you have seen below, the school we support is in desperate need of help.  The classrooms are wooden, & cramped & we have been doing our best to help keep the rain & the flood waters out. There are now 500 children at the school & we desperately want to build a brick school for the children.  The size of the land is tiny, as is common for an urban slum area so we need to build a storied building to give the children the space they need to learn.  We have just received the our exam results for our oldest children who finished in Dec.  We have received 7 Firsts, which is the highest grade you can get, along with 22 Seconds. This is an amazing achievement from a school based in a slum community & is a credit to all the support you have given us.

Clothes for Hamuza!

*
Hamuza is my little shadow!  He is a young boy who was abandoned by his mother when he was 6 months old, & was taken in by the school directors Rose's mum.  He is a lovely little boy but when when I met him he was wearing a ragged dress & I thought he was a girl.  Over the last few months we have bought him a few bits like a bed, mosquito net, bedding, some clothes & shoes & a teddy, just to give him some possessions & also for him to look like a little boy!

A brand new year & a brand new roof!

*
So here we are in a brand new year!  2010 was certainly an eventful year both happy & sad, & I hope that 2011 can bring us more joy without any sadness.  Lets watch this space!!

Well we have been busy over the last couple of months.  As you know we have been saving up to build a brick school for the children of Ndeeba Primary.  This is our biggest fundraising effort & we really hope that we can achieve our target by the end of this year.  In the meantime we have been trying to repair the existing wooden school to make it as waterproof, flood proof & as safe as possible for the year ahead. The rains have certainly increased over the last couple of years & we have noticed much more problems with flooding in the slums.
